Alan stunned to grab the goal

-

Livi goalscorer Alan Lithgow admitted even he was slightly surprised to be the one who headed his side into an early lead.

The defender nodded home inside six minutes as the Lions booked their place in the Premiership play-off final.

He said:“Deccy’s headed it back across and I think Lee actually got a touch to it but I was there to get it over the line.

“He probably thought he’d scored until he saw me running away celebrating.

“I knew Deccy was going to win the header so I was gambling on the second ball and it’s paid off.”

“I think we’ve deserved it over the two legs. Our workrate is a joke to be honest, it’s incredible. Everybody is in this together and we give it everything.

“They didn’t really have too many clear chances and that’s because we were blocking everything and not letting them in. We defended the box really well and obviously Neil made a great save at the end. Everyone was in the right place at the right time and working hard for each other.

“It was amazing to see the stadium that full and the fans really get behind us. Now we go again on Thursday.”
