Get on the ball for Macmillan

- Sean O’Neill

Two brothers will host a charity football game in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support after a family member was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Ryan and Daniel Flannigan will hold the 11-a-side game after Ryan’s partner’s father, Terry McMillan, was diagnosed with the disease.

The game will be played at Corrie Park in Armadale on Sunday May 27 and there will also be a raffle with prizes donated by both Celtic and Rangers.

Ryan said:“It started off as my partner’s father was diagnosed with lung cancer.

“The money raised will be going to Macmillan Cancer Support and it’s a chance for him to make some memories as well.

“The game will be friends and family and work friends. It’s everybody of all abilities. We’re just hoping it will be a good day.

“We’ve sorted out some medals and a trophy for the football and if it all goes well we’re hoping to do this every year.”

Everyone is welcome along to the fun day which will also have a visit from the Bouncy Castle Man and who will bring a host of inflatables and there will also be the raffle.

Ryan and his brother are still hoping to arrange face painters, balloon modellers and mascots as well as a food and ice cream van for the day.

The match will kick-off at 1pm on Sunday and the bouncy castle will be there from 12pm to 4pm with the raffle being held after the match.

Ryan’s partner, Laura McMillan and their three-year-old son Oscar Flannigan, also recently completed a charity run last weekend for Macmillan which raised more than £100.
