There will also be the Duck Race, Fancy Dress, Pet Show and much more. Events will be held in the park at 6.30 throughout the week:- Monday – Mini Marathon and Penalty Kicks, Tuesday- Basketball Shoot and 1 Mile Trophy race, WednesdayI­nter-schools 7 a-side Football Tournament, Friday- Crowning of Gala Queen. On Wednesday 30th, the Teddy Bears Picnic will for nursery age children will be held in the Institute Hall at 6pm. Thursday the annual Gala Quiz will be held in the Masonic Hall at 7.30pm and the Girls Pamper Night will be held in the Institute Hall at 6pm. Staurday 6th June is Gala Day and the Grand Gala Parade leaves from South Lodge Avenue at 1pm, followed by an afternoon of Gala Sports in the Park. Gala bags will be distribute­d in the park immediatel­y after the parade arrives there. For full details of all Gala events please see the Gala Programme which is being delivered to every Mid Calder household. The world famous Mid Calder Children’s Gala Duck Race is back on this year ! At 2pm on Sunday 27th May the ducks will ‘swim’ down the Almond to the finishing point at the bridge at Almondell Car Park opposite Gala Park on Pumphersto­n Road. Ducks are available for sale in the Post Office, Black Bull and the Tap Shop , £1 per duck. Prizes are: £25 for 1st £15 for 2nd £5 for last place! Kirk of Calder is having their Summer Club for children (primary 1 to primary 7) from Monday August 13th to Friday August 17th. It will meet 10 am to 12 noon in the Glenalmond Church Hall, Mid Calder. Come and join our adventure cruise, sailing the 7 ‘C’s! Bottle Bank Competitio­n Recycle your glass during the “Mid Calder Children’s Gala Day” and raise money for next year’s event! The bottle banks at Almondell Country Park will be assessed by WLC so that every bit of glass placed in them during the week before and the week after 2nd June 2018, will be counted and will result in a payment to your Gala Committee. The more YOU recycle the bigger the payment for your gala next year! Mid Calder Boys’ Brigade meets in the Glenalmond Church Hall on Friday nights. Places are available for all age groups:- Anchors P1 to P2, 6.30pm - 7.30pm, Juniors P3 - P6 and Company Section P7 and older, 7.30pm - 9.00pm . Mid Calder Community Council hold their monthly meetings on the first Thursday of the month at 7.30pm in The Glenalmond Church Hall. The next meeting will be on Thursday 7th June at 7.30pm. We usually meet in the church to start with, then go down to the hall for songs, games, stories and fun.
