New role for Jackie

West Lothian College welcomes new principal

West Lothian College has appointed Jackie Galbraith as its new principal and chief executive.

Jackie will start her new role in August 2018 and brings a wealth of experience from working in vocational learning with the Scottish Government and more recently as vice principal at Ayrshire College where she had great success in improving learner outcomes.

Jackie succeeds Mhairi Harrington who is retiring after 10 years in the role and nearly 40 years working across primary education, youth and community education and adult services.

Jackie said: “I am delighted to be joining West Lothian College and look forward to working with staff, students and stakeholde­rs to build on the many achievemen­ts of this successful college. I am excited by the opportunit­ies for growth in West Lothian and the vital role that the college has in ensuring that all people and all communitie­s benefit from this.”

Alex Linkston, chair of the board of governors, said: “The board is looking forward to working with Jackie and taking West Lothian College from strength to strength after 10 very successful years under Mhairi Harrington’s leadership. We are in a strong position with great potential to grow and are confident that Jackie’s expertise and passion will help us to achieve our ambition of being a college of excellence for our learners, business partners and community.”
