Mixed fortunes for Broxburn duo

-

Several local drivers were in action during another busy night at The Racewall in Cowdenbeath.

The main event was the Formula II Scottish Championship where 31 drivers turned up to race in a full BriSCA format.

Broxburn duo Colin Forbes and Daniel Scrimgeour were joined by Ewan Mackie (Armadale) on the grid and while Mackie had to retire from the consolation event, the Broxburn pair qualified for the championship. However, Scrimgeour ran into problems on the grid and didn’t start and while Forbes led initially, he dropped down the order and failed to finish in the top ten.

In the minis, the Armadale duo of Taylor and Ryan Borthwick were in action with Taylor picking up a fifth in heat one, but that was sadly the only finish between the pair in the qualifying events.

On Sunday, it was the turn of the Saloon National Championship race. There was no shortage of action as Graeme Shevill went on to claim the title.

There was also the Formula II World Championship qualifying round which was a tremendous advert for Formula II.

Neither Scrimgeour nor Forbes were able to crack the top ten at any point until the Grand National race, where the latter came home in eighth place.

This Saturday, there’s more racing at Cowdenbeath as the Saloon stock cars are back along with the1300 Saloons, Prostocks and MicroF2 drivers with the meeting starting at 6.00pm. Several West Lothian drivers will be taking part.
