Fun in the woods
The staff and some of the children and parents at Bathgate Early Years Centre were lucky enough to take part in the Forest Schools programme recently.
This involved groups of children going out once a week over a period of time to explore the outdoors nearby with the support of rangers from Beecraigs Country Park.
The children were involved in many activities including scavenger hunts, den building and examining mini beasts and plants.
Miss Heenan one of the centre’s Eco Schools co-ordinators said:“This programme has been a huge success and we can’t wait to take this forward next term in order for more of our children at Bathgate Early Years to benefit from this fantastic experience.
“Not only did the children involved show growing confidence and resilience each week but they also demonstrated an awareness of personal safety and developed their own appreciation of nature and the outdoors in their local community of Bathgate.”
