Seasonal charm

Shops in The Centre, Livingston are buzzing as people flock to buy the latest autumn looks

- Marjorie Kerr

This autumn it really is a mixed bag when it comes to fashion.

There’s ever ything f rom animal print s, oversized knits, checks, tartan, embroidered floral influences carried over from the summer and faux sheepskin coats and gillets for men, women and kids – mixed and matched and layered for extra cosiness.

There’s no shortage of bright colours too including fuchsia pink and digital blue, a throwback to the 80s along with the double- breasted suit jackets.

Olive greens and oranges are hot too this season which look great with leopard prints and for the popular on-trend suited and booted look mix black, navy and red with dogtooth patterns.

Any shade of brown is the key colour for men from caramels to chocolate brown mixed with a touch of warm yellow hues and purple to spice the look up.

We bumped into these six shoppers at our last Style Squad search in The Centre, Livingston. They all received a £25 gift card each for sharing their shopping finds with us, courtesy of The Centre, which can be used in over 70 stores and all restaurants in the shopping centre.

First up was Amii Adam ( 32), a hairdresser from Carnoustie, who snapped up a floral patterned skirt from Primark.

She said: “Today I thought I’d treat myself to a new skirt for work and loved this floral one from Primark.

“The great thing about coming here is that I know I will always find something I love which is why I keep coming back.”

Next up was Laura Hirst ( 37), from Carnoustie, who bought a black frontbuttoned skirt from Primark.

Laura said: “There’s so many great cool skirts in the shops just now. However, I really liked this black one as I can dress it up or down.

“I think it will look really good with a t- shirt and trainers for a nice day-look.”

Melissa Green (18), from Armadale who works in Asda, treated herself to some new make- up from Superdrug.

She said: “I’ve had a great shopping trip in the mall today. I’m really excited about my new make- up from Superdrug – concealer, foundation and fake eyelashes which I can’t wait to put on tonight when I go for dinner with my mum who is just back from her twoweek holiday in the sun.”

Lauryn Fleming ( 18), from Boghall who works in a café in Bathgate, bought a leopard print top from Unique.

She said: “It’s great to see that animal prints are in this season. I really love them which is why I couldn’t resist this top from Unique, a shop I really like.”

Fabio Teti (27), from Italy who owns a family- run restaurant in Dunfermline, snapped up some check trousers from Topman.

He said: “It’s been a bit of a busy time lately at work so today was good to get out and relax and do a bit of shopping with my girlfriend.

“The Centre has some great places to shop, especially Topman where I bought these check trousers which I love and another pair ,a mixed of green tartan.”

Beat rice Cav a l l i n i ( 28), a psychologist who is from Italy and lives in Dunfermline, bought boots from H&M.

She said: “Work has been really busy lately and today seemed like the perfect day to spend it with my boyfriend Fabio.

“We decided to take some time out in the mall and do a bit of shopping and go for a bite to eat.

“It’s been really relaxing and enjoyable, especially as I managed to find a great new pair of boots for the winter.”

Ashley Bisland, deputy director at The Centre, said: “There’s a great buzz in the mall just now as the season’s top styles, trends and colours are keeping our shoppers busy with everything from tailored suit jackets and tartan skirts to cowboy boots and floaty floral dresses – there’s definitely something for everyone, of all ages, all under one roof.”

There’s definitely something for everyone
