Easy way to pay the bills

New online service boost

- Courier reporter

West Lothian Council have launched a new online portal that allows customers to access and carry out a range of services online.

My West Lothian provides customers with a safe and secure portal – similar to online banking – where they can carry out a range of services such as reporting potholes, requesting additional bins, booking bulky uplifts and paying their council tax.

Parents/carers can also pay for school meals via MyWestLothian.

The portal is easy to use and customers only have to register once. By registering, forms are pre-populated each time a customer accesses their MyWestLothian account, making it quick and convenient to use.

Once registered, customers will also be able to view their next bin collection dates on their own dedicated account homepage, as well as being able to view all requests.

Ralph Bell, the council’s customer and community service manager, said: “We are continually seeking new ways to improve services.

“We know that more and more customers are accessing services online and MyWestLothian is an easy to use service that provides customers with access to a range of services.

“The site is device response so works on a tablet, phone or PC and it is accessible 24/ 7. For many customers this is a more convenient way to request services compared to calling our Customer Contact Centre or visiting a council office.

Depute council leader Kirsteen Sullivan said: “MyWestLothian is fast, convenient and easy to use. As a parent of young children I use MyWestLothian to pay for school meals but there is now a large number of services that can be accessed via the portal.

“It is important that the council meets the demand for online services and MyWestLothian helps us achieve that for a number of important services.”
