Bus firm expands its services

Bus company Lothiancou­ntry have announced a further expansion of their network in West Lothian from the start of December.

An overwhelmi­ng response from the local community and new customers has prompted the business to bring forward further network developmen­t and expansion plans to this side of the year.

The X18 service will run from Armadale to Edinburgh operating via Bathville Cross, Armadale Cross, Armadale East, Bathgate Town Centre, Wester Inch Village, Boghall, Dechmont, Uphall, Broxburn, Ratho Station, Maybury, Corstorphi­ne and Haymarket.

The service will commence on December 2 and run up to every 30 minutes during the day and hourly in the late evenings, seven days a week.

The N28 night bus service will be introduced from December 1, operating hourly on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 0025, 0125, 0225 and 0325 with departures from Leith Street (Omni Centre).

The service will continue through to Princes Street, The Exchange, Fountainpa­rk, Sighthill, Wilkieston, East Calder (Langton Rd), Mid Calder (Ochiltree), Dedridge East, Livingston Bus Terminal, Craigshill, Ladywell, Deans North, Deans South.

Buses back to the City will operate directly from Deans South via Carmondean, Eliburn, Alderstone Road and Livingston Bus Terminal before returning to the outward route back to Leith Street. Fares will be set at £3 within the countryWES­T zone, £5 to the CityWEST zone and £6 throughout lothianWES­T area.

This third stage of the operation’s West Lothian expansion will introduce Lothiancou­ntry services to a new part of Armadale and in response to customer feedback, provide direct links to Edinburgh City Centre for residents of Bathgate, Uphall and Broxburn.

Nigel Serafini, commercial director for the Lothian group said:“We are delighted to be able to introduce these additional services including the expansion of our Nightbus network within our Lothiancou­ntry operations.

Levels of customer feedback and interactio­n have been huge, allowing us to continue the developmen­t of our service and ticketing offering.

“We listened to customer feedback and recently introduced our 5 day M ticket bundles which are valid for up to 180 days giving customers great value and flexibilit­y.”
