On-form Forrest claims final win

-

Speedy Ross Forrest won the 2 Litre National Saloon white/yellow challenge series final at the Cowdenbeath Racewall.

A nail biting finish saw the Livingston racer build up a useful lead, but he was gradually pegged back by Tam Rutherford Jnr who reduced the gap.

Going into the last bend the cars were side by side but as they exited the corner both began to spin.

Forrest’s car rolled across the finish line backwards to win, with East Calder’s Willie Mitchell claiming the second spot.

In heat one neither driver finished, but Mitchell was fifth in heat two.

Forrest led the final for a good part of the race, but in the end finished in third place with Mitchell ninth.

The Broxburn duo of Daniel Scrimgeour and Colin Forbes were in action with their BriSCA Formula II cars.

And while neither finished in the results in the heats, Scrimgeour was tenth in the final. In the Grand National Scrimgeour was fourth with Forbes tenth.

The Dales Taylor and Ryan Borthwick were racing and in the opening race for the Dash for the Tyre.

T. Borthwick finished in fourth place, but in heat two R. Borthwick was in a race long dice and it was during the closing stages that he moved into the lead and on to win.

During heat two R. Borthwick took the lead early on before going through to pick up his second win of the night.
