Ultra win for Young in three peak race

Lothian Running Club’s Shona Young chalked up another age category ultra win in Sunday’s Jedburgh 3 Peaks 38 miles Trail Race which was part of the town’s annual running festival.

In the overall classifica­tion Shona finished 41st overall, 6th female and the winner of the over-50 women’s category covering the course in 6 hours 37 minutes 53 seconds.

Making up the LRC representa­tion in the Borders event was Linda Garratty and Michelle Kirkbright.

The latter finished in 10h 24m 48s with Linda crossing the line in 9h 16m 9s.

There was further success in the associated 10k event with Ian Leggett the leading over-70 in 62 minutes 10 seconds.

In the half marathon Andrew Corrigan lead home a trio of blue vests in 1h 41m 40 seconds.

He was followed over the line by club mates Alan Weir 1h 51m 49s and Stewart Kennedy 2:17.28.

Sarah Inglis picked up an individual bronze medal and team gold in the British Columbia Cross Country Championsh­ip in Abbotsford.

Running for the Langley Mustangs the Lothian runner finished third in the Senior Women’s race covering the 8k course within Clearbrook Park in 25 minutes 41 seconds, her time was the same as runner up Lisa Brooking and 21 seconds behind race winner, Canadian Olympian Natasha Wodak.

With her fellow team members Regan Yee, Lindsay Carson and Alycia Butterwort­h packing closely behind her the Mustangs took the team prize.

Sarah who has twice been the BC individual champion in the past was happy with her run after missing the summer season through injury.
