Livi can’t get better of table toppers

- Alistair Knox

Livingston suffered a 19-48 defeat at home to Royal High against the table toppers in the East Division 1.

A bad start saw Livingston go behind 0-7 early in the game from which quickly became 0-12.

Things were looking ominous for the home team when try number three came from again a quick tap penalty for 0- 19 and Royal High’s bonus point after a quick tap and go caught the Livingston defence on the backfoot to make it 0-24 at the interval.

The second half started like the first with Livingston giving away an easy try and the next one was more of the same as the Livingston team just couldn’t live with the pace of the opposition with the score at 0-36.

With things looking dark, Livingston managed to conjure up a try of their own when after a good flowing move. A neat off load by Ross Niven to his opposite winger Ben Shearer allowed him to score in the corner, he missed his conversion for 5-36.

Royal High replied to make it 5-41.

Shortly after the restart Livingston won the ball through prop Aaron Ferguson who still had a lot to do but managed to bundle over under the posts , it was converted by Dean Edwards, to make the score 12-41.

Prop Marius Tamosaitis then got over the line for the home side to score a try converted by Dean Edwards to make the score 19-41.

A dubious knock on cost Livingston a bonus point before Royal High scored a converted try to make the final score 19-48.
