Man ac­cused of mur­der bid

21-year-old charged with at­tack­ing OAPs

A man has ap­peared in court ac­cused of at­tempt­ing to mur­der an el­derly pen­sioner.

Michael Jame­son (21) is also charged with as­sault­ing a 79-yearold woman, a 30-year-old man and a po­lice of­fi­cer.

Jame­son, from Lin­lith­gow, was ar­rested af­ter po­lice were called to an in­ci­dent in Pol­beth on Satur­day, Novem­ber 3.

Three peo­ple were in­jured in the fra­cas and the el­derly man was taken to hos­pi­tal and de­tained for treat­ment. Jame­son ap­peared on pe­ti­tion at Liv­ingston Sher­iff Court charged with as­sault­ing the OAP to his se­vere in­jury and dan­ger of life and at­tempt­ing to mur­der him. He was fur­ther ac­cused of three counts of as­sault to in­jury and one of sim­ple as­sault.

In ad­di­tion he faces two charges of van­dal­ism, one of po­lice as­sault and one of re­sist­ing ar­rest.

Jame­son made no plea and was com­mit­ted for fur­ther ex­am­i­na­tion. He was re­manded in cus­tody pend­ing a sec­ond court ap­pear­ance for full com­mit­tal next week.
