Anyone who wants to keep fit and active over the winter months can take advantage of free instructor- led walks throughout West Lothian.

The c o u n c i l’s He a l t h Improvement Team has organised the walks to suit all ages and abilities.

Starting on Friday, an Ageing Well group meets at Livingston Xcite and on Monday at 10.15am walkers meet at Bathgate Tesco.

On Tuesday at 10am meet at Craigsfarm in Craigshill to take the Lizzie Bryce Walk.

At 10am in Armadale a walk leaves from the Railway Station cycle path and in Whitburn at 10am Ageing Well members meet at Whitburn Library and will take the town walk. On Wednesday at 10am a walk leaves from Tesco at Linlithgow and that night at 7pm walkers meet at Carmondean. The route will be decided on the night.

Finally on Friday (November 16) at 10am the Ageing Well group meet again at Livingston Xcite.

A spokesperson said the walks are designed to be informal and inclusive, adding : “Our groups are friendly and welcoming and the trained walk leaders will support new walkers to build up their pace and distance. You can meet new friends, discover new walks and improve your fitness.

“The walk will last about 60 minutes and you’ll be able to walk at your own pace. Sorry, but dogs are not allowed on the walks.”

First time walkers should arrive 15 minutes before the start. Call 01506 775626 or e- mail hit@ westlothian.gov.uk.
