Lorna Graham clovenford@yahoo.co.uk West Kirk United Remembranc­e Service Everyone is invited to join us at the West Kirk of Calder, West Calder on Sunday November 11th for a special service of Remembranc­e which will start in the Church at 9:45 am and last for half an hour. At the end of the service, should you wish, you can be part of a procession led by West Calder Brass band which will proceed along the main street stopping at Our Ladies and St Bridget’s where their congregati­on and Boghall Pipe Band will join the procession. This will then continue on to the War Memorial at the library where a short service will commence with a two minute silence at 11am. The West Kirk welcomes everyone to join us inside at 9:45am Christmas Carol Concert Choir Rehearsals start: In the West Kirk on WEDNESDAY 7th of November from 7 - 8 pm We would like to send an open invitation to everyone with a love of music to come along and join us, we have the extremely talented Carolyn Hamilton lead us behind the Baton. Everyone is welcome and you do not need to be able to read music to “Raise the Roof” with lots of Carols and Christmas songs at the Concert on Friday December 14th at 7 pm (The Concert lasts for lasts for 1 hour)

munity Developmen­t Trust are currently preparing for the centenary of Armistice Day, as part of the extended commemorat­ions, they would like to create a digital memorial for those who served in the Great War and for those who gave their lives in the Great War, to create a Heritage project. They are looking for letters, memorabili­a or any photograph­s that can be scanned and will be added to the Heritage website. Please contact the Trust office in West Calder Community Centre if you have any items you wish to be included. The CDT would also like to create a Poppy Walkway to commemorat­e the sacrifices made by so many local families, they are looking for as many people as possible who live or work on the Main Street to display a poppy in their front window. The poppies can be supplied by the trust for display. They would very much welcome donations of knitted or crochet poppies to help create a display, please contact the Trust on 872931 for further informatio­n.

Fundraisin­g Afternoon Music Concert in aid of Namibia 2019 Scouting Trip will be held on Sun 18th Nov 2-4pm, West Kirk, West Calder. Tickets priced £5 for adults, £3 for under 16s will be available on the door or from Aonghas or Rhoda Lawton (via West Kirk or Polbeth Harwood Church). Local Explorer Scout, Aonghas Lawton has been selected to travel with the Forth Region Scouts to Namibia in 2019 to continue the project work in Omakange begun in 2017. Three weeks of building projects, helping out in the local schools & other community based work awaits 33 Scouts. Aonghas has raised his target for the Project but is now fundraisin­g to get himself to Namibia to be part of the Project Team. The concert will feature Toccata Ladies Choir, Folk Music from an Edinburgh based group & Aonghas & Friends from West Lothian NYCOS will take part. There will also be a raffle. A warm welcome awaits everyone.
