The charity Musically Active Dudes offers a musical experience with trained experience­d leaders for adults with learning disabiliti­es at Crofthead Farm. The group meet on a Monday and the first session runs between 11am -12 noon and comprise Brazilian Dance. The second session from 1-2pm consists of percussion, singing, vocalising and movement. All attenders must be accompanie­d by a carer and spaces are limited. Space Youth Centre based at the Lanthorn meet on Sunday evenings from 7-8pm. Catering for the P7 to S2 age group activities on offer include pool, table football, games, music, chat and hot chocolate. New attenders will be made most welcome and can drop in on any Sunday evening. Lanthorn Library next Bookbug group takes place on Wednesday November 14 starting at 11.15am. The event is for children under the age of 3 years and offers an afternoon of fun, rhyme and story sessions. All interested are welcome to attend. Incredible Years Parenting programme is held at Crofthead Farm Community Centre on Tuesday mornings from 9.15-11.15am. The programme is designed to strengthen parenting skills and promote children’s optimal social, emotional, physical and academic developmen­t. Community Council At last week’s Community Council meeting held at Crofthead Farm complaints were raised about the dilapidate­d condition of the area surroundin­g the Commercial Units at Templar Rise. Complaints were made regarding the badly damaged fencing, broken signage, and large amounts of discarded waste and furniture piling up in the enclosed parking area. The Community Council stated it would follow up the complaints raised. Woodlands Nursing Home is putting on a Christmas Market at the Home on Saturday December 1 from 2-4pm. There will be a range of stalls, raffle, tombola, Christmas Grotto and mulled wine and mince pies. The event is open to all interested.
