Uphall Children’s Gala Thanks for those who attended Uphall Children’s Gala AGM. We are delighted to announce, we have a committee and 2019 Gala Day will go ahead on Saturday, June 8. There’s still time to get involved, just drop us a PM or come along to our next meeting which will be held at The Oatridge Hotel on Monday, November 26 at 7pm.

West Lothian U3A (University of the 3rd Age) - Members are invited to an extra talk on Monday, November 12 at 2pm in Uphall Community Centre – Ronnie Anderson: “Wildlife on Your Doorstep”. Ronnie will show a selection of his wildlife photograph­s from places local to West Lothian and from the Cairngorms. The next Open Meeting will be on Wednesday, November 21 at 2pm in the same venue. Ishbel Smith, a director of Scottish charity Mary’s Meals, will speak about their work. Mary’s Meals provides a daily meal in a place of education for over 1.2 million children in 14 different countries, encouragin­g some of the world’s poorest children to attend school. Broxburn Family Centre AGM - Is on Friday, November 16 at 3pm. This Annual General Meeting is an open, public meeting, to review the Charity’s year, Annual Accounts and to meet with staff and Trustees. Tearfund Big Quiz night Saturday, November 17, 7.45-9.30pm Strathbroc­k Church Hall. Strathbroc­k Church has signed up for this and we would like lots of people to take part – from our own congregati­on, family, friends and people from the wider community. Tearfund want this to be the biggest multi-venue quiz event ever, with teams up and down the country doing it at the same time – hundreds of churches, thousands of people. Quiz questions will be on General Knowledge, Food and Drink, Geography, Film and TV, Sport and Music. Money raised will be used by Tearfund to help people in need eg refugees in Lebanon. Entry by donation eg £5. To book your place in the quiz call the church office on 01506 856433. If you can help on the night speak to Peter Hagenbuch or Myra Macpherson.

Harvest Many thanks to everyone who donated to our harvest, transporte­d the donations to the hall, sorted and bagged them. It really was a true example of many hands making light work. Over 30 bags of food were shared between SOYA, the Food Bank and Open Door, Livingston. Our members in the various care homes all received lovely flower arrangemen­ts. Once again the congregati­on of Strathbroc­k demonstrat­ed God’s Love in their giving.

Messy Church In Strathbroc­k Church Hall Sunday, November 18 from 12-2pm. Please come along mind and bring an adult. This is for children aged 3 and upwards. We begin with food then story, games and crafts. Come along for lots of fun. STRATHBROC­K PARISH CHURCH - ACTS OF REMEMBRANC­E Remembranc­e Service A short act of Remembranc­e will be held in Strathbroc­k St Machan Church on Saturday, November 10 at 10.45am. You are warmly invited to attend. This will be followed by a short service and dedication of the refurbishe­d memorial board. Local historian Sybil Cavanagh will speak about some of the names on this board.

Remembranc­e Service St Nicholas on Sunday, November 11 10.30am. There will also be a retiral offering for Poppy Scotland.

Remembranc­e Service There will also be a parade leaving Broxburn Parish Church at 1.30pm walking to Strathbroc­k Partnershi­p Centre where there will be a service of remembranc­e. Please come and pay your respects to our fallen heroes.

Coffee Morning A coffee morning is being organised by parents to raise funds for P6/7 camp. This will be held on December 8 from 10am- 1pm at Middleton Hall Bowling Club. Entry is by donation. Please feel free to let friends and family know, the more the merrier! All monies raised will be shared equally by the children going to camp (P6 & P7). Donations for the raffle include a signed Hearts football and lots of other great raffle prizes as well as baking, sandwiches, tea/coffee available to buy. Further donations would be most welcome. ciation Autism Family Support are holding a youth program for P7 – S6 in Uphall Community Centre on Wednesday’s from 7pm-9pm. The weekly cost is £3.50 to support some activity costing and end of year trip. Tuck shop is £1 for juice & crisps/ snack biscuits. Uphall Station Bowling Club A huge THANK YOU to everyone who turned up to the Prize Bingo & Raffle on Friday October 26 and for the donations to the raffle.
