Drivers battle bad conditions

-

It was a meeting of two halves at the stock car meeting at the Cowdenbeath Racewall, with a downpour causing tricky conditions in the latter stages.

Several West Lothian drivers were in action in the final races of the season.

Armadale pair Ryan and Taylor Borthwick competed in the ORCi Ministox event, with Ryan ending the two heats in 10th and third places respectively in trying conditions.

He would then go on to record an easy win by a wide margin in the Civic Week Cup, whilst Taylor snatched second spot at the end of the race. David Philp (East Calder), Owen Marshall (Blackridge), Callan and Lewis Walker (Armadale) and Bobbie Brandon (Fauldhouse) were the local drivers in action in the Micro F2s.

Callan came home in third spot, with Lewis in ninth in the first heat with the latter improving to fifth in heat three.

Philp was in impressive form with a third place finish in heat two before an easy win in heat four.

Brandon grabbed a seventh in heat three, with Marshall in sixth place in heat four. The Broxburn duo of Colin Forbes and Daniel Scrimgeour were both in action in the Formula IIs during a busy evening and whilst the latter was on the grid for the Champion of Champions final he wasn’t classified.

He had finished in 10th place, and then ninth, in the two heats but spun out of the final. During the Grand National, he brought his car home in eighth place.

Forbes, on the other hand struggled in the wet and tricky conditions and wasn’t classified in any of his outings.
