Four local sides march on in Trophy

-

Four West Lothian Sunday Amateur Football League teams booked their spots in the last-32 of the Sunday Trophy following victories at the weekend – although two sides sneaked through by the narrowest of margins. While Livingston-based Harvester eased to an 8-1 away win at Maryhill Milans, both Carron Valley and Livingston CFC needed penalty shoot-outs to advance following 2-2 draws.

Valley edged out fellow West Lothian side Broxburn Athletic, who play in the Lothian and Edinburgh league, 4-3 from the spot and it was the same score as Livi CFC got the better of Carluke Thistle. Craigshill Thistle also booked their place in the draw with a 2-1 home win over Bardykes Rovers.

LEAFA outfit Bathgate Thistle lost 3-1 against Palmerston Colts.

Elsewhere, there was a first league win of the season for CVD, who edged out West Calder United 4-3 in a league fixture, although they remain rooted to the foot of the table.

Livi North moved to within three points of unbeaten league leaders Craighsill thanks to a convincing 6-2 win at home to Burnside.

Highland Park jumped above visitors East Calder in the league table and into fifth place following a 3-1 home win.
