Top night for striker
Blackburn United striker Colin Penman is used to scoring hat-tricks on the park, but he also scooped a one off it in 1988 as he won three awards at the club’s annual presentation dance.
As well as being named Player of the Year by the committee, Colin won the same honour from the players and also received the top goal scorer award.
The club’s Most Improved Player award was won by Peter Walker, however he wasn’t there to pick up his trophy as he was resting for a trial match with East Stirlingshire the next day.
Colin was pictured with some of his team-mates, committee members and sponsors in the November 25, 1988 edition of the Courier.
