Paul Gavin paul­[email protected] Whit­burn’s Christ­mas Cracker Join us on Sat­ur­day 1st De­cem­ber for a day of fab­u­lous fes­tive fun right here in the heart of Whit­burn! The ac­tion starts at 12 noon with a whole range of ac­tiv­i­ties at the com­mu­nity cen­tre. We’ve got chil­dren’s en­ter­tain­ers, fun­fair, walk­a­bout char­ac­ters, face paint­ing, live mu­sic and more! We’ll once again have a fab­u­lous Christ­mas Mar­ket sup­port­ing our lo­cal or­gan­i­sa­tions and busi­nesses. A great op­por­tu­nity to get lots of Christ­mas gifts AND shop lo­cal at the same time! Un­lim­ited ride wrist­bands for the kids are now on sale at the com­mu­nity cen­tre. Adults and un­der 1s go free. The Santa Pa­rade will leave the com­mu­nity cen­tre at 4.15pm and make its way down to the town plaza at the cross for the switch­ing on of the Christ­mas tree lights. We’re then go­ing back up the hill for more en­ter­tain­ment right through to 7.30pm! Come and join in the fun! East Whit­burn Com­mu­nity Cen­tre There are two types of karate go­ing on in the cen­tres main hall on dif­fer­ent days one is East Whit­burn Karate which takes in com­pe­ti­tion and tra­di­tional karate af­fil­i­ated to the Scot­tish Karate Fed­er­a­tion.The other is Loth­ian Karate Cen­tre run by my­self this is Fit Kids Karate this a mix­ture of fit­ness and tra­di­tional mar­tial arts non com­par­a­tive. East Whit­burn Karate is on Tues­days and Thurs­day evenings 6.30pm to 9pm both nights and Loth­ian Fit Kids Karate is on Mon­days and Wed­nes­days 7pm to 8pm both nights, Yoga Classes run Mon­day morn­ing and Wed­nes­day evening. There is also 50+ Keep fit on Thurs­day morn­ing. K9 Han­dlers dog train­ing on Fri­day evening and Foot­ball Buzz on Sat­ur­day morn­ing. For more info on any group please con­tact: the cen­tre on 01501-740938 As most evenings are booked in the main hall through the week we have a lesser hall and meet­ing room for let, for fur­ther in­for­ma­tion con­tact the cen­tre on 01501-740938. The main hall although busy most nights is avail­able most day­time hours up till 6pm and we also have a lesser hall and meet­ing room to let out the lesser hall is avail­able ev­ery evening at the mo­ment. Scout Post Whit­burn Scout Group will once again be run­ning its Christ­mas card de­liv­ery ser­vice. This will be the 33rd year of the ser­vice. Cards can be posted at the fol­low­ing shops from Sat­ur­day 1 De­cem­ber : Hair­port Hair Stu­dio, East Whit­burn; Gothen­burg, East Whit­burn; Rashid Bros, Mur­raysgate; U-Save, East Main St; Mia’s Card Shop, West Main St; Pre­mier Store (Mr Singh), East Main Street; Glen­more Min­i­mar­ket, Blae­ber­ry­hill Road; and Boots the Chemist, West Main Street. The last day for post­ing will be the end of trad­ing on Thurs­day 20 De­cem­ber. The cost re­mains 20p per card. De­liv­er­ies will take place on Sat­ur­day morn­ings and Sun­day af­ter­noons to Whit­burn, East Whit­burn and Red­mill ONLY.
