Burnie up to fourth place

- Whitburn.......4 Kennoway SH ....... 1

A fine second half display saw Whitburn climb up to fourth place in the table as they netted three times to seal the win against Kennoway Star Hearts.

Both teams went close in the opening exchanges but it was the Burnie who broke the deadlock on 18 minutes as John-James Henderson let fly from 25 yards with the ball finding the top corner.

The sides would be on level terms at the interval, though, as Dylan Muir got on the end of a Kieran Brand cross to fire home the equaliser.

The signs of what was to come were there in the early stages of the second half as Reece Duncan went close before netting the home side’s second on 55 minutes when he was able to match Henderson for distance with a long range effort of his own.

Both goals were outdone, though, on the 68 minute mark when Andy McQuillan gave his side a two goal lead when he rattled the ball home from fully 35 yards.

Jack Docherty almost made an immediate impact off the bench but he was unable to turn the ball home at the back post when McQuillan’s free-kick was parried into his path.

However, Dewi Taylor would make a scoring appearance from the bench as he had the final say in the closing stages.
