‘One stop shop’ for groups

West Lothian Courier - - News -

Community groups in West Lothian have a new“one stop shop”to help them grow.

Pamela Roccio told West Lothian Council’s Voluntary Organisations Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel (PDSP) that the new website launched by the Voluntary Sector Gateway was a resource site for the Third Sector.

She added that early responses to the site showed that users visiting were staying longer and could now download PDF pages. “And it’s a resource which is going to grow,”she added.

There are plans to add more pages of information on funding matters. This follows a “phenomenally successful”event – “Let’s Talk Funding”- run last month by VSGWL.

Pamela said:“The feedback from that event was phenomenal so we are going to be doing a lot more on the website about funding. It’s a resource which a lot of people are finding really useful. If you are running any kind of group this is a one stop shop for advice on how to grow.”

The website also contains downloadable templates, for instance if an organisation wants to draw up a constitution, it can download a template for that and simply add its own wording.

It also serves as a directory for the service groups which can help voluntary groups, and lists other potential avenues for assistance.

“The website will help you get started. It tells you what you need to think about in terms of setting up committees for training, for volunteers,”added Pamela.
