Musical feast set to kick off new year of events

January promises to showcase a packed programme of events at Howden Park Centre in Livingston.

On Saturday, January 12, ‘A Viennese Strauss Gala’ will take place.

Now in its fifteenth year, the event is back in the UK by popular demand, with a sparkling new anniversar­y production.

This show recreates the romance of the Viennese festive season and reminds you of a bygone age of glamorous soirees and Strauss waltzes featuring highlights from some of the great operettas of the Strauss family, Kalman and Lehar including ‘Die Fledermaus’, ‘The Merry Widow’ and many more.

The European Orchestral Ensemble will accompany four soloists from major opera companies.

This wonderful production is cleverly staged and choreograp­hed and authentica­lly costumed, appealing to the romantic as much as the music aficionado. It will take place on January 12 at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced £20 or £18 for concession­s. A musical feast featuring the songs of one of the USA’s most famous exports is also set to take place.

‘The Simon and Garfunkel Story’ has now been seen by over a quarter of a million people across the world and is a critically- acclaimed concert-style theatre show about two young boys from Queens, New York who went on to become the world’s most successful music duo of all time.

Using state of the art video projection, incredible lighting and a full live band, this is a moving and powerful concert featuring all the hits such as ‘Mrs Robinson’, ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, ‘Homeward Bound’, ‘The Boxer’ and many more.

Hailed as “Amazing” by Elaine Paige of BBC Radio 2 and ‘Simply incredible’ by BBC Scotland, the show takes place on Friday, January 18, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £17 or £15 for concession­s.

The show ‘The Legends of American Country’ is also sure to delight music fans.

Now seen by over 250,000 fans, Europe’ number one country music show returns for another fantastic night of toe-tapping country classics.

The 2019 tour will showcase highly- acclaimed tributes to Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Tammy Wynette, Kenny Rogers and five brand new tributes to icons Willie Nelson, Charley Pride, Patsy Cline, Glen Campbell and Don Williams.

The show features four fantastic singers backed by the superb Keltic Storm band and coupled with an authentic stage set that will transport you all the way to Nashville and back.

The show will take place on Thursday, January 17, at 7.30pm.
