Speedy Jo is local hero at Parkrun

Lothian Running Club’s Jo Williams kept up her good run of results as she finished in the weekly top 10 of the fastest female runners in parkruns held in the UK.

Jo finished second overall and first female at her local Livingston Parkrun.

Her time of 17.46 was the sixth fastest female time across the country.

Lothian Running Club members were the top six finishers in the 5km event in Livingston, with Josh Dack taking the win for the 28th time in 16.58.

Sam McIntosh came home in third place behind Jo in 17.59, with Alan Knowles two seconds further back in fourth spot.

Ryan Kirkland (18.19) and Euan McInnes (18.43) crossed the line in fifth and sixth places respective­ly, with Ryan recording a personal best.

Linlithgow AAC’s William Millar placed 10th in a time of 20.24 and was followed by two Livingston AC runners. Yvonne Crilly (20.24) and Katie Craig (20.26) were second and third females.

In the Lanark Moor Parkrun, LRC’s Al Aitken was third with Lana Turnbull finishing second female.

On Boxing Day, Lothian Running Club will host their annual Festive Frolics races at Beecraigs.

Runners can compete over 7k or 14k, both races start at 11 am.

For the not so serious and younger runners, the Cockleroy 1 mile Fun Run begins at 11.15am.
