Wright: Watch out

-

Livingston-born darts ace Peter Wright has vowed to stop all the tinkering and“kick everyone’s butt”in 2019.

The world number three suffered a shock defeat in the PDC World Darts Championship as he was ousted 3-1 in the second round by Toni Alcas.

Despite winning the Melbourne Masters in the summer, it has been a frustrating year for ‘Snakebite’, with mixed form throughout the season.

Many in the game believe it has been due to constantly changing his darts, something the 48-year-old did admit might be the case after his defeat.

He said:“Maybe some of the commentators are right. Maybe I have been changing my darts too much.

“But I feel with these ones, they are the best I have held in my hand.

“I’m going to stick with them and kick everyone’s butt next year.”

He added:“When I’m happy with this set of darts then everyone is in trouble. I’ve beaten Michael van Gerwen three times on TV this year. I’m not rubbish.

“I didn’t score well enough early in the match and that’s why I’m out.

“I’ve still got the confidence. Is it dented? Not at all.

“Watch me next year, trust me.”
