Livi visit St John’s
Players and staff at Livingston Football Club helped to spread the festive cheer by spending time at the St John’s Hospital children’s ward.
Several of the club’s senior players, as well as manager Gary Holt, took time out of their preparations for their games over the festive period to give presents to youngsters in the hospital, as well as spending time chatting with parents and members of staff.
Teddies and chocolates were handed over while the footballers also added a little personal touch to the ward by signing personalised Christmas tree decorations that will take pride of place in the ward’s playroom.
Holt said the club were only too happy to pop along for the afternoon: “It’s hugely important that the club do everything they can to help out the local community and it was special to put smiles and the faces of the kids, but also the parents and staff as well.
“Nobody wants to see anyone, particularly children, in hospital at this time of year so being able to spend a wee bit of time with them and hand out presents is great.” Lynn Haddow, senior charge nurse on the children’s ward, thanked the players and staff at the club for helping to cheer up the youngsters.
She said: “We’re all very thankful that the players and manager took time out to spend some time at the hospital and hand out presents to the children.
“It was great to see them spend so much time with the youngsters and chat with the parents.
“They helped to put a smile on everyone’s faces. It was a really nice personal touch that they all signed their own decorations for our Christmas tree in the playroom on the ward.
“If any Livingston fans are in over the festive period, that would be a real treat for them.”
She added: “We wish Livingston FC all the best for the rest of the season and it’s great to see them doing so well in the Premiership.”
