WL go for third place
West Lothian seniors signed off their 2018 in the East B section of the National League with a narrow six shot defeat (72-66) at the hands of Midlothian on home territory in the penultimate fixture.
With a credible seven wins from 11 fixtures, the stars of the Inveralmond Stadium face a closing fixture in the new year away to basement boys Tweedbank and are well placed to clinch a respectable third place behind winners East Lothian and runners-up Midlothian.
West Lothian enter their final fixture with an advantage of two points and 87 shots over fourth-placed Bainfield, who are the form favourites to win at home to second from bottom Teviotdale.
There were wins for John Lynas and George Sneddon, but they weren’t able to overcome the defeats suffered by Duncan Lawson and David Wilson.
The rink scores were: John Lynas 18-7 L. Plenderleith, George Sneddon 16-14 G. Mair, Duncan Lawson 21-26 G. Cairns 26, David Wilson 11-25 I. Fleming.
Balbardie, who were idle last week, have won just two from 11 games and sit joint second bottom with Teviotdale going into a very tough away visit to title-challenging Midlothian in the new year.
