Family left devastated by loss

Money is being raised for the family of a “kind hearted” West Lothian teenager who passed away suddenly two days before Christmas.

Calvin Fleming (19) died after collapsing at a house in Burnside Terrace, Polbeth, on Saturday, December 22.

The teenager was said to be a massive fan of amateur football team Polbeth United, having also played for the club – and they are now raising cash to help out his devastated family.

A GoFundMe page has been set up and more than £2000 has been raised so far, smashing the original target.

The club posted on the page: “Polbeth United are raising funds in memory of the club’s number one supporter Calvin Fleming. Calvin played for the club from a young age and helped from the sidelines with his positive attitude to the game.

“Polbeth United would like to help towards Calvin’s family at this very sad time and help give a young kind hearted man a lovely send off. Any donations would be greatly appreicated.”

A number of people paid their own tributes to the teenager on the page.

Emma Laidlaw posted: “You will always be a Polbeth legend. Sleep tight wee man.”

Amanda Neary commented: “Poor family. I can’t imagine the pain this must be causing. Hope it brings them some comfort knowing people want to help.”

And Linda Tierney added: “Calvin you are an eternal flame who will light up the skies forever.”

Police say that the death is being treated as “unexplained” and a 27-year-old man had been arrested and charged under the misuse of drugs act.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to an address in Burnside Terrace in Polbeth on the evening of Saturday 22 December after a 19-yearold man was found collapsed within.

“He was pronounced dead at the scene, the death is being treated as unexplained and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

“A 27- year- old man has been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act in relation to this and was due before Livingston Sheriff Court on Monday, December 24.”
