Beecraigs Country Park will transform into a Winter Wonderland next Christmas as a new festive lightshow is set to illuminate the popular country park between November and January. Alongside an illuminated woodland trail, Beecraigs will become home to a Christmas Market and a Santa storytelling experience. There will also be a Christmas maze and Christmas trees for sale. West Lothian Council has agreed a five year lease with Rowen, a Linlithgow based events company. The company is working in partnership with Unique Events to stage the event on their behalf. Unique is a well- known event management company with 25 years of experience in running similar festive events including Edinburgh’s Hogmanay. The seasonal event will be staffed and run by Rowen employees though the council will monitor its impact. Rowen will also cover any restoration costs in the woodlands. The deal will earn the council £55,000 over the next five years. Chairing the council’s Executive, which agreed the five year let of the county park, council leader Lawrence Fitzpatrick suggested that all the money raised should be ringfenced for the county’s country parks. The event will be ticketed, and access to the illumination trail will be restricted in the afternoon and evenings. The rest of the park, including the popular visitor centre and café, will remain accessible to the public during the event.
