‘It was a certain penalty’

-

Steven Lawless insists he should have been given a penalty and says he ‘can’t believe’he was shown a yellow card for diving.

The winger appeared to be dragged down inside the box by Jesse Curran with just 12 minutes left in the game and the score at 1-1. But whistler Greg Aitken waved away Livi’s protests and booked the 27-year-old for simulation.

The ex-Partick Thistle man believes the referee was the only person in the stadium who believed it wasn’t a foul.

He said:“He’s taken a bad touch and I’ve took a touch inside him. I’m just about to shoot and he runs across me and puts his arm and leg out. It’s a stonewall penalty in my eyes and I can’t believe I’ve been booked, as well.

“It was 1-1 at the time so that’s a crucial decision in the game and has cost us.”

He added:“There was 100 per cent contact there and I’m just about to shoot. He’s brought me down. I can’t see how the ref has thought it was a dive.

“I think he was the only person in the stadium who thought that. He actually said I’ve dived, there was no contact.

“Everyone has been in that position where you’ve taken a bad touch and you’re trying to rectify it and that’s what he was trying to do but there was definitely contact.

“It’s one of those things that we’ll just need to take on the chin.”
