Scott backs Livi’s fighting spirit

- CALLUM CARSON

Livingston striker Scott Robinson says he has no doubts about the club’s ability to turn around their poor form - but knows they’ll have to be at their best to pick up the points on Saturday.

The Lions go into the clash against Kilmarnock without a win in nine games but the 26-year-old insists there’s no lack of confidence within the dressing room.

He said: “I’m not worried at all. The group of boys at the club have a great fighting spirit and togetherness.

“I’ve not seen it like that anywhere else I’ve played, and I’m not just saying that, it really is a special group of lads.

“I’ve no worries going forward because if we keep playing and doing what we can then we’ll start picking up points, I’m sure of it.

“You could see against Dundee on Saturday that the fighting spirit is still there, it’s maybe just not quite getting the wee breaks you sometimes need. Obviously the penalty decision didn’t help us.

“If that goes our way we’re probably getting at least a point and if it was 11 versus 11 I think we would have won.”

The ex- Killie player says he’s full of admiration for his former club but is hopeful he can help put a dent in the Rugby Park side’s bid for European football.

He said: “Steve Clarke has done an unbelievable job. When you look at where they were when he moved there to where they are now, it’s incredible. They’re consistently competing against the top sides.

“I watched them against Celtic at the weekend and they were very impressive.

“They look good and sharp so we know that we need to be on our toes and hopefully we can threaten them at the other end and get a result.”

Robinson made his comeback from injuryat the weekend, having not featured since before Christmas. And he admitted he was delighted to be playing again, saying: “It’s been a long time coming but you want to be involved every week. We’re coming to a big part of the season now so hopefully I can play my role in helping us to kick on.”
