Missing men a worry for Holt

-

Gary Holt insists it’s a case of next man up as the Lions will have a depleted squad for this weekend’s clash with Kilmarnock.

Lee Miller, Dolly Menga and Raffaele de Vita are still out, while Scott Tiffoney could be available after the young striker returned to full training during the week. Shaun Byrne will serve the first game of his two-match ban for a red card against Dundee.

He said: “Shaun being out will give someone else a chance. Somebody has to come in and play and hopefully take their chance.

“But Lee Miller is still out for the foreseeable future while Dolly is out but he’s stepping up his recovery.

“Scott Tiffoney will be back training so we’ll see with him, but it’s good that he’s back.

“We had a couple of knocks from Saturday too and in training but to be honest, that’s just the way we train.

“I make no apologies about training at a high intensity and getting them to work hard because that’s how we’ll get better.”

The Lions have failed to find the net in their two previous games against Kilmarnock this term, but Holt believes they can cause an upset.

He said: “We’re not a millions miles away and we have to keep doing what we’re doing, but Kilmarnock are a phenomenal side who are fourth in the league.

“We have to believe now that we can compete against these teams – but we have to get at the top of our game.”
