GOLFER GREIG IS PRIZE GUY Y AGAIN
GOLF
Greig Hutcheon won the Muir Homes-sponsored Deer Park Masters for the seventh time in the first Pro-Am golf event to take place in Scotland since lockdown.
The event was given the allclear by the government with social distancing and Covid-19 regulations being adhered to.
While the weather wasn’t kind, it was great to see the tournament take place and credit goes to the greens staff for all their hard work.
It wasn’t plain sailing for Hutcheon as he was involved in a three-way tie at five under par alongside Paul O’Hara and James McKinnon but won on count back.
Deer Park’s assistant professional Fraser Kane was within touching distance as he finished two shots back, while the club’s head professional, Iain Stoddart, scored +1.
CRICKET
Linlithgow and Livingston are set to renew their friendly rivalry as the two sides meet in a 30-over contest on Saturday.
It will be the first time either side has faced an opposing team since lockdown, which also brought about the cancellation of the East of Scotland Cricket Association season.
However, clubs have been able to train and participate in intra-squad matches prior to getting the go- ahead to schedule friendly fixtures.
The action gets underway at Boghall, Linlithgow at 12noon.
FOOTBALL
Livingston Women have announced the double signing of Sharon Hughes- Lee and Natasha Frew as competitive football returns in October.
Hughes- Lee has been working as a fitness coach with the team after hanging up her boots following a successful career that included six years at Hearts. However, the Lionesses have persuaded her to ditch retirement as they eye up promotion to the second tier in their first season.
Frew joins from Glasgow Girls, having started her career at Blackburn United prior to a move to Rangers.
The season is due to begin on October 18 following the 2020 campaign being declared null and void.
