Home Instead Livingston were thrilled with the success of their first ever Christmas campaign and the response from the local community.

The presents were distributed to seniors across the local area who are faced isolation at Christmas and may not otherwise have received a gift.

The local home care company launched their‘Be a Santa to a Senior’campaign back in November, asking kind-hearted people across Livingston and West Lothian to donate gifts at several drop-off points, or virtually through their Amazon wish list.

Williamson’s Garden Centre and J&R Veitch Garden Centre hosted drop-off points, collecting an abundance of donations! Morrison’s and Sainsbury’s supermarkets in Livingston both donated sizeable donations to the campaign.

Home Instead was overwhelmed to receive a grand total of 457 donated gifts, which the team have wrapped and will be distributing across the local area with the help of different groups and charities, including Kirk of Calder, Polbeth Harwood Parish Church, Livingston Old Parish Church, West Lothian 50 plus network and Craigshill Good Neighbour Network.

Graham Stevenson, owner of Home Instead Livingston, said: “We are so thrilled that our first ever Christmas campaign has gone so well.

“We didn’t expect so many donations. “These gifts will bring festive cheer to seniors across the community, many of whom have had a really tough year with the COVID-19 restrictions leading to elongated periods of social isolation.

“We would like to thank everyone who joined in and worked alongside us, including the shops which hosted donation points, and the charities that are helping us distribute the gifts.

|A big, special thank you goes to everyone who donated a gift.

“We are so proud to be able to bring Christmas cheer to seniors this year, and our campaign has shown how the community can come together to help people through challenging times.”
