CRAIGSFARM CAFE

-

Craigsfarm Community Hub and the cafe have reopened. The cafes usual hours are 9- 3pm Mondays to Fridays. There are a few changes to comply with the Governments covid guidelines.

Apart from if you are wanting to takeaway food, no queuing is allowed and we will be providing a table service only. This is both indoors and weather permitting, outdoors. The rules are that you now need to sit 1 metre apart from anyone else unless you are in the same household as them so we will be setting out our café tables to meet that requirement. We also have to take each individual’s Test and Protect details rather than just one person from each party. Masks and face coverings still have to be worn to enter and move around the building.

These are all mandatory requirements so please bear with us as we get to grips with re-opening and complying to the new rules.

Residents in Broxburn and Uphall are being encouraged to make use of the recently launched town bus service.

The 2A and 2B community bus pilot, in partnership with Dial-A-Bus operator HcL, launched last month.

It aims to support older people, families with young children and those with mobility issues who live in the area, who have issues due to the hilly nature of Broxburn and Uphall.

The service will enable locals to access key services such as shops and health in the town centre, as well as existing public transport links for onward travel.

Early indications show a steady growth in passenger numbers, week on week, as more local people become aware of and make use of the service. The majority of journeys were made by concessionary card holders, with positive feedback from passengers including they found the service handy and would recommend it to their friends.

The service operates between 9am and 6pm Monday to Friday, with full details including timetable, available from www. westlothian.gov.uk/ broxburn-uphall-town-bus

Executive councillor for development and transport Cathy Muldoon said:“It’s fantastic to see so many Broxburn and

Uphall residents making good use of the new service already.

We hope to see more members of the Broxburn and Uphall community using the service going forward, demonstrating the demand after the pilot phase.”

Both 2A and 2B routes operate a two-hour loop between the town centre facilities, such as Strathbrock Partnership Centre, shops such Co-op and Lidl, and residential areas including Stankards/ Houston Gardens, Crosshill Triangle, Kirkhill, Loaninghill Road, Timmeryetts/ Galmeilen, and Wyndford Avenue.
