Dickov relieved hotseat was just a one -off

Livingston Women’s coach Stevie Dickov helped guide the team to a 10-0 victory – then insisted he’s delighted he’s not in charge this weekend.

Dickov stepped in with head coach Paul Jaconelli unavailable as the Lionesses hit St Mirren for double figures and jumped to second in the Championship South table in the process.

Despite the comfortable margin, the coach admits it was a less than comfortable afternoon for him in the hotseat but says he was delighted with the team’s performance.

He said: “Honestly, it was really stressful taking the team. I’m definitely quite happy just doing the coaching and letting Paul take charge so I’m delighted that he’ll be back for Sunday.

“I suppose one game, one win and 10 goals scored isn’t too bad a record to have as manager though.”

Livi strolled to victory with Ashley Fish, Shannon Mulligan, Jess Murphy and Vicky Wood all netting doubles while Jen Dodds and Rachel Walkingshaw also got their names on the scoresheet.

Dickov added: “I’m very, very pleased with the performance although I actually think we probably should have scored more.

“Going for goal was something we’d actively been working on in training and trying to instil in them so to see it working was brilliant.

“We’d been attacking very well in previous games but just having a wee bit of hesitation in the final third or overplaying it instead of having the confidence of going for goal.

“We wanted to see that bravery to try something creative or take the chance themselves and the girls showed that in abundance. They were excellent in the way they moved the ball in and around the final third.”

Next up for Livi is a home clash with table-topping Renfrew at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Sunday (4pm kick-off ) and Dickov believes they can head into that clash full of confidence given their performance in Paisley.

He said: “It’s a game I’m really looking forward to and it’s going to be a tough challenge.

“They’re a very good side as they have shown by being top of the table so we need to be on our game if we’re going to pick up the three points but we go into with real excitement and belief.”
