Ten goals is a huge boost

-

LivingstonWomen’s defender Jess Murphy believes their 10-0 win over St Mirren could be a sign of things to come from the Lionesses.

Murphy netted twice to take her tally for the season to four in five games and says Sunday’s victory shows that everything could be starting to click as they look to mount a Championship South title challenge.

She commented:“We have played well for large spells in games this season but I think that was definitely the first time we’ve had that complete performance.

“We looked solid from the start and once the first goal went in we just went from there.

“There was a real confidence and relaxed style to the play and that helped lead to the margin of victory. Maybe in other games we’d been trying to force things a bit too much.”

She added:“The whole team were really buzzing after the game and the confidence is high at the minute. It’s a very difficult league and there’s no easy games so having that level of belief and confidence in our game is something that could really make the difference in some games.”

The defender was one of six goalscorers at the weekend and added that so many finding the net is a huge positive for the club – with five players already having at least three goals to their name just five games into the season.

She said:“The fact that there’s so many girls scoring goals can only be a good thing because you don’t want to be a team that has to rely on one or two players to get all the goals.

“We’ve got that ability all over the park and it helps ease the pressure.”
