Work is now underway on 101 new homes in village

Pre-constructi­on work is underway to bring over 100 new houses to West Lothian including 55 affordable homes.

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has confirmed that pre-constructi­on work has started for its Auldcathie View developmen­t of 101 new homes in Winchburgh.

Located off Duntarvie Castle Road, Auldcathie View will provide 46 three and four bedroom private homes, as well as 55 affordable homes in a mix of twobedroom cottage flats.

There will also be three bedroom terraced homes together with the associated infrastruc­ture such as roads, parking and open space that is required for a developmen­t of this scale.

These new homes will also enjoy an idyllic setting directly adjoining the new Auldcathie District Park.

The location of Auldcathie View within the overall masterplan vision for Winchburgh and forms part of Phase 2 of the wider Winchburgh masterplan that when complete will deliver at least 3800 new homes, improved transport links, employment opportunit­ies, and stateofthe-art schools.

This impressive masterplan will also provide new outdoor spaces that will include a new canal marina. There will also be the creation of Auldcathie District Park, as well as a new motorway junction.

Pauline Mills, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland said the company is pleased the developmen­t work is now underway.

She added: “We are very pleased that our pre-constructi­on works at Auldcathie View have started.

“It signals the initial stage of our first developmen­t in Winchburgh since 2018.

“And it will provide buyers with a wide selection of homes, as well as great commutable routes to Edinburgh and the wider area.

“There are several months of preconstru­ction works to complete before we can finalise the timescales of when we willstart building our new homes.

“However we expect that will be in early 2022 and we will continue to update the local community with our plans.

“As well as an impressive range of new private and affordable homes, Auldcathie View will also provide a range of economic benefits for the local Winchburgh area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of constructi­on, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses from those who choose to live in one of the new homes this developmen­t aims to deliver.”
