ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT

An online workshop on LinkedIn is being held today (Thursday) from 11 -12pm.

Access2Emp­loyment is based in Almondbank Centre, Livingston supporting the individual so that they are equipped with employabil­ity skills that meet the needs of employers, recognisin­g that one size does not fit all.

Advisers help people to develop confidence, compile or advise on preparing CVs, provide interview guidance, assist with the completion of applicatio­n forms and provide overall employabil­ity support. FORGET ME NOT CAFE

The cafe has returned.. If you or a family member has had a diagnosis of dementia or memory issues then please join us at the cafe in East Calder Church Hall on the last Thursday of the month from 10-12 noon. It’s an informal and friendly social group for a cuppa and blether. Please note that due to current circumstan­ces booking is essential. YOGA

Come along to Sukha Yoga on Wednesday evenings from 7--8.30 pm in The Dave King Partnershi­p Centre, Main Street East Calder. This Yoga class is easy, relaxing, energising and suitable for all levels.

We are following Covid restrictio­ns so the space is well ventilated and numbers are limited. Entry is through the fire exit at the back of the building.

Quiz nights will be held on the first First Thursday of each month at 8pm in The Kirknewton Inn. A maximum of 4 per team, £2 entry per person, £20 cash prize. All money raised goes towards Gala 2022..

To start off the festive season, some 200 local people attended Crofthead Farm Centre for the switching on of the Christmas lights. Following Christmas songs performed by the 1 st Livingston Girls Brigade and the Rainbow Brownies, a draw was held to select the lucky winner to officially light up the Christmas tree. The raffle was drawn by West Lothian Council Leader, Lawrence Fitzpatric­k and won was Max ages 3, pupil at Glenview Nursery and from Dedridge. Following the switching on of the lights girls from the Rainbow Brownies decorated the tree with lovely baubles they made by hand.

CROFTHEAD FARM

This Saturday December 11, a Christmas Jingle takes place at Crofthead Farm from 11am-1pm. Events will include various bouncy inflatable­s, face painting, cold cooking, balloon making and a Santa’s Grotto.

All activities are free of charge and all interested local families are invited along on the day.

THE LIVINGSTON SOUTH COMMUNITY CHURCH

holds its next Sunday service on December 12 at the Murieston Village Hall. The service starts at 10am and all attenders will be made most welcome.

LANTHORN COMMUNITY FOOD SHOP

based at Crofthead Farm is open Monday and Wednesdays 1030am12.30pm and on Tuesday evenings from 5-7pm. Bags of food costing a very reasonable £3 are on sale with the contents varying each day.

THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE

charity event is asking local people to purchase a Christmas present for a child living in hardship, wrap it and hand it in to Crofthead Centre. Cards can be picked up from the Centre’s Café, Food Shop or Scott’s Bikes, Ambrose Rise, detailing the sex and age of the child to get a present for.

THE RAMPAGING ROOKS
