Scottish Cup date marked for Lewis return
Livingston are targeting a return to action for Adam Lewis after the winter break.
The youngster, who is on loan from Liverpool, suffered a broken toe in training in late September and had been expected to miss 10-12 weeks.
Lions boss David Martindale says the 22-year-old has started running again, but it’s unlikely he will be back in first team contention prior to their Scottish
Cup home clash with Ross County on January 22.
Lewis has struggled with injuries since moving north of the border following loan stints in the French second tier and at Plymouth Argyle last season, with the ex-England youth international having featured just three times in the league for the Lions.
Martindale said:“Adam was out on the grass last week and the anti-gravity machine the week before. He’s out of his boot and progressing.
“Adam could be ready to be with us in the next two to three weeks, but if it’s more towards the three weeks then it makes more sense to leave him down the road for a bit longer with the winter break coming up.”
He added:“The plan was always to have Adam come back up to us when he was two weeks away from returning to first team training. We were looking at something around the 10-week mark after his operation and we’re approaching that now, but it all depends on how Adam and the Liverpool physio team feel.
“It might make more sense to leave Adam there for the Christmas period and bring him back up in early January for the winter camp, with a view of being ready for the Scottish Cup tie.”
