Over £24,000 raised in his memory

A fundraisin­g page for West Lothian schoolboy Devin Gordon has raised over £24,000 as his family paid tribute to their “precious boy”.

Devin (13) passed away last week and donations have since poured in from well wishers from around the world for his heartbroke­n family.

They said Devin will “live in our hearts forever” and that life will never be the same without him.

His friends also gathered in Bathgate at the weekend to remember him and released balloons in his honour.

Devin’s teachers said he would be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

Eileen Paxton, Bathgate Academy head teacher, said support will made available to staff and pupils following Devin’s death, adding he was a “lovely pupil”.

The heartbroke­n family of schoolboy Devin Gordon say their lives will never be the same following the death of their “precious boy”.

Bathgate Academy pupil Devin passed away on Wednesday and his teachers have also been paying tribute to him, saying he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Devin’s family released a statement through the British Transport Police.

They said: “Our lives have changed forever and will never be the same without our precious boy.

“We will miss him every day for the rest of our lives.

“Thank you to everyone who has paid tribute to Devin and those who have sent us condolence messages during this extremely difficult time.

“We would like to ask that our privacy is respected as we come to terms with the tragic loss of our young son.

“Devin will live in our hearts forever”.

Eileen Paxton, head teacher at Bathgate Academy said support will be made available to staff and pupils following Devin’s death. She added: “Everyone within our school community is devastated at this news.

“Devin was a lovely pupil who will be missed by everyone who knew him and our thoughts are with his family and friends.

“Support is in place for our pupils and staff at this incredibly difficult time.”

Devin played for Bathgate Juniors Under-14’s.

The team said on Facebook: “It is with great sadness and sorrow that we share the news of the passing of one of our players from Bathgate Juniors Under-14’s. Devin was a light in the team which will never go out. His personalit­y was like a magnet drawing people to him. Happy, cheeky, but funny with it, and always respectful.

“On the field he showed his passion and skill. He made the team a better place to be.

“He was a great team player and friend who will be greatly missed by his football family.

“Our thoughts are now with Devin’s family, friends and his team who will hold him in their hearts forever the only Number 4.”

Leader of West Lothian Council, Lawrence Fitzpatric­k, also said his thoughts are with Devin’s family.

He said: “This is incredibly tragic news and my thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Devin at this sad time.”

Executive councillor for education, David Dodds added: “The school community is in shock at this sad news.

“Devin was a young pupil who will be missed by all and I would like to pass on my condolence­s to his family and friends.”
