-

A fundraising page set up in memory of West Lothian schoolboy Devin Gordon has raised more than £24,000 for his heartbroken family.

Devin (13) passed away last week and the community, as well as people from around the world, has rallied round to support his family since.

The mum of one of his team mates at Bathgate Juniors Under-14’s set up a fundraising page that has reached £ 24,432. At the weekend his devastated friends and classmates at Bathgate Academy held a vigil and released balloons.

They gathered at Balbardie Park of Peace on Saturday to remember him.

More than 100 people gathered to set off balloons in memory of Devin.

The Hearts fan was a member of the Bathgate Juniors Football Club and number four balloons were released to mark his position on the team.

Those who gathered held onto each other tightly as inflatable footballs, love hearts and balloons emblazoned with ‘Devin’ soared into the sky.

Nicola Boyd, who set up the Gofundme page said: “Cannot believe the kindness of everyone and how this handsome young lad has touched the hearts of many all around the world.

“I’ve had messages to the fund me page from families in USA.”

Devin’s heartbroken family say their lives will never be the same following the death of their son last week.

Bathgate Academy pupil Devin passed away on Wednesday and his teachers have also been paying tribute to him, saying he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Devin’s family released a statement through the British Transport Police, describing him as their “precious boy”.
