STOCK CARS

-

There was plenty of West Lothian interest at the first event of the year at the Cowdenbeath Racewall in Fife, writes Jim Turner.

Nicole Russell (Longridge), Steve Jones (Armadale), and Livingston’s Aimee Winfield (pictured, right) were all in action in what turned out to be exciting racing with cars racing side-by-side for many laps.

In the opening heat, Russell picked up sixth place with Jones in ninth, but Winfield had to retire after being caught up with another car.

In heat two, Russell was fifth with both Winfield and Jones forced to retire.

Winfield, though, recovered from the double retirement to seal the runner-up spot in the fast-paced final with Russell crossing the line in fourth place.

Sean McConnachie (Wilkieston) was amongst those racing in the Micro Bangers. He was the runner-up in the first heat before going on to win the second heat.

He finished fourth in the final, which saw him claim second place in the total points rankings.

Gary Doyle (Polbeth) raced a Van banger and was spun in all of his races but had the last laugh when he came out on top in the Destruction Derby.
