Pool makes a splash at national awards

- STUART SOMMERVILLE

A West Lothian swimming pool has become the only one in Scotland to pick up an award for its customer service.

Broxburn swimming pool was awarded the “Best Swimming Pool Member Experience in the UK” for the third time in four years at the 2021 UK Member Experience Awards.

And West Lothian Leisure, the arm’s length charity set up by West Lothian Council to run leisure facilities, received a gold medal award.

The Member Experience Awards is an industry-wide title which recognises and rewards leisure, health and fitness operators for their outstanding customer service throughout the year, with results being measured from customer feedback after visiting venues and taking part in activities.

West Lothian Leisure was the only Sport and Leisure Trust in Scotland to scoop awards.

Tim Dent, chief executive of West Lothian Leisure, said: “After the difficult couple of years we have all faced, it is a great achievement for the team to be rewarded for their efforts.

“To have improved from our 2020 silver award to gold is a testament to our workforce who deliver exceptional customer service and experiences on a continual basis.

“To achieve this in a normal year would be fantastic – to do it during a pandemic is remarkable! We would like to thank all our customers for their ongoing support and feedback and look forward to continuing to meet and exceed their expectations in 2022.”
