Love was in the air at nursing home’s Valentine afternoon
Staff and residents at Heatherfield Nursing Home in Armadale celebrated Valentine’s Day in style after staff came together to organise a love-themed concert and afternoon tea for them and their loved ones.
Residents sent hand-made invitations to their friends and family, inviting them to take part in the Valentine’s Day celebrations, before enjoying a turn around the dance floor while local singer Lauren Kyle performed some classic love songs.
The home was then opened to friends and family members, who were the guests of honour at a Valentine’sthemed afternoon tea, with residents being gifted a hamper of chocolates generously donated by Morrisons
Bathgate’s Community Champion, Diana Torres.
To end a special day, residents were each gifted a single red rose by 10-year-old Cody Coull, who wanted to make sure each resident felt special on Valentine’s Day.
Hazel McFie, service manager at Heatherfield Nursing Home, said: “We loved seeing so many families and friends able to join us for the afternoon tea. It was all the more special given they’ve had to stay away for extended periods of time over the last two years.
“Our residents had a fantastic time, with plenty of hugs and smiles to go around.
“Staff always go the extra mile for them, especially when planning events like this, and it’s brilliant to see the result when everyone comes together.”
