Bathgate gearing up for 2022 procession
The organisers of Bathgate Procession and Community Festival are delighted to announce its triumphant return after a two-year hiatus because to covid.
The committee are working hard to plan a fantastic event, with work already well underway for Festival Fortnight, the historic pageant, procession and park entertainment.
However, they need volunteers to pitch in and help make sure that this year’s event is one to remember.
The committee said in a Facebook post: “To ensure that 2022 is a year to remember, we would like to involve as many people and groups from our wonderful town as possible.
“Therefore, we are asking you to volunteer support and help us bring Bathgate Procession and Community Festival back with a bang.
“There is a whole host of different events taking place throughout festival fortnight and on procession day itself.
“So if you are an individual, community group, sports club, music group or local business and would like to get involved then please message our Facebook page.
Any offer of help would be greatly appreciated.
“Some examples of how you can get involved include: volunteering to help with Procession Day setup, sponsorship of a band or helping out at one of the festival fortnight events.”
Festival Fortnight kicks off on Saturday, May 21.
The Oration is on Friday, June 3 and Bathgate Procession and Community Festival is on Saturday, June 4.
The selection process for the main characters is also under way.

The Character Meeting takes place on Sunday, March 13 for primary age children that are taking part in this year’s procession.
It will be held in the Jim Walker Partnership Centre from 10.30am.
Start times are: Flower/Rainbow girls – 10.30am; Bower Girls – 11.30am; Royal Guard – 12pm; Page Boy, Herald and Abbott and Keeper of the Keys – 12pm.
