Villageto benefit frombus service

-

People living in a West Lothian village are to benefit from an extended bus service.

West Lothian Council has approved the extension of current local bus contracts in Westfield.

Councillors agreed to the extension of subsidised local bus contracts for a period of one-year due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic and national driver shortages on the local bus market.

Around 20 per cent of all bus routes in West Lothian are subsidised by West Lothian Council.

In doing so, 14 variations to existing bus contracts have been extended to April 2023.

A tender exercise was undertaken for the remaining contracts which has enabled the Armadale/Whitburn Town Service to serve the village of Westfield with a link to Avonbridge during peak hours, improving the transport in the area.

The current Taxibus service in Westfield will now be available in the evenings and Sundays from April 1 when the new bus service begins.
