New round of mental health funding launched

Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian has launched a further round of funding from the Communitie­s Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.

The fund, which totals £57,000, aims to support community-based initiative­s that promote and develop good mental health and wellbeing.

It can also go to projects that protect against the impact of distress and poor mental health in adults.

Applicatio­ns ranging from £2000 to £10,000 will be accepted and they must be submitted by noon tomorrow (Friday, March 4).

This round of funding is open to new applicants only – organisati­ons that submitted applicatio­ns in the first round of funding will not be eligible for this second round of funding. The first round of funding, which totalled £470,000, was made available to community groups and third sector organisati­ons in West Lothian.

The applicatio­n process for the first round of funding closed on

January 14 and it was significan­tly oversubscr­ibed.

The two rounds of funding, totalling £527,000 in West Lothian, come as part of the Scottish Government’s establishe­d ‘Communitie­s Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund’which totals £15 million across Scotland.

The Communitie­s Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund is an extension of the Scottish Government’s Recovery and Renewal Fund.
