‘We’re good enough to stay up’ says United boss

-

Blackburn United boss Mark Campbell admitted Penicuik Athletic were simply more clinical in front of goal as the promotion hopefuls sealed a 2-1 win at the Purdie Worldwide Community Stadium, writes Callum McCormack.

Paul Tansey’s long-range effort in the first half gave the visitors the lead after United had passed up several chances.

Andy Forbes rose the highest on 53 minutes to head home and add to Athletic’s advantage before a late penalty from Michael Browne cut the deficit in half with the last kick of the game.

Campbell said: “Was there a lot in the game? Was there a massive difference? Not really. They were more clinical in front of goal.

“Safety is key for this club, if you look at the table we’re in the relegation zone but we’ve got games in hand, it’s still in our hands.

“We’ve got to just win as many games as possible but if we win two or three in a row we’re looking at catching the middle of the table.”

He added: “We’re good enough, we’re young enough, we’ve got a lot of energy and we’re confident in staying up. So we’ve got to be positive and stay positive.”
